See the Savior on a Donkey
See the Savior on a Donkey
See the Savior on a donkey riding down the last long road.
Soon we join the crowd in shouting, “Save Us! Save us, as you go!”
Shout “hosanna.” Shout it with them. Shout it as He passes by.
Facing forward, though He hears us, focused eyes are His reply.
Jesus, why are You not walking? You have always walked before.
Your humility looks foolish, foes will press You all the more.
Cloaks and branches laid before You, stepping hooves and dragging feet,
Your legs longer than the donkey’s, make an awkward scene complete.
Still, we follow, through the gateway, then the temple’s open door.
See Him overturn the tables where the schemers cheat the poor.
See Him change the den of robbers back into a house of prayer.
Yet His love, more than His anger, lingers in the temple air.
