Ever New
Ever New
The Spirit takes things we deem old and proves them ever new,
Like righteousness, humility, and hard forgiveness, too.
No matter when or where we live, two things are always there:
The human bent toward serving self, God’s call to give and share.
The Spirit takes things we deem dead and proves them still alive,
Like kindness, care, and sacrifice, suppressed but still they thrive.
No matter when or where we live, two things are always there:
The human bent toward serving self, God’s call to give and share.
Come, Holy Spirit, stir the church toward God’s community,
whose common need of love, and grace creates humility.
No matter when or where we live, these things are also there:
all people, whom in love God made, and life we’re meant to share.
